SpyFly Highlights

  • Premium membership available as a 7-day trial for $2.00
  • Unlimited searches and reports
  • Proactive alerts when public record data is changed
  • Emergency Response Profiles to save personal information in a virtual vault
  • Nationwide sex offender information
  • Sex offender monitoring in four selected areas

Emergency Response Profiles:  A feature that sets SpyFly apart from the competition – ERPs allow you to store vital information about you and your family members in secure virtual vault. This gives you the ability to instantly access and share this data when you may need it the most, such as in case of lost or missing family member.

Proactive Monitoring and Alerting:  SpyFly allows you to designate four individuals whose public record will be constantly monitored. You are immediately alerted when public record of any of these individuals changes. This gives you the freedom to not run regular reports looking for changes to public data.

How to search public records: It’s very easy  to get started with a public record search using SpyFly. Start by entering the first name, last name and state.

Once the search is complete, fill-in your email address to view all matches that have been found.

To help you narrow down your search, additional information such as age, location and possible relatives is shown. Use filters such as city and age to further narrow down on the right person.

Use the Get Report option to access the desired public record.

Once the report is ready, activate it by making the payment.
According to Fair Credit Reporting Act, SpyFly should not be used for employment & tenant screening, hiring decisions, educational qualification, credit, insurance and business transactions.

SpyFly Subscription: Subscription plans for SpyFly are not clearly stated. The report activation page states that SpyFly can be tried for 7 days for just $2. If you cancel within this period, there’s no additional charge. Otherwise you’re charged the monthly subscription fee at $29.97 a month. The subscription may be cancelled anytime.

Even though the report activation page does not talk about this, the help center states that annual subscription can be purchased for less than $100 – no information on what the subscription amount is.

SpyFly Pros:

  • Simple, easy-to-use graphical user interface
  • Try the service for 7 days before purchasing full membership
  • Once a member, search unlimited public records
  • Get alerted when your public record is changed

SpyFly Cons:

  • Search is limited to name and city of the person
  • No clarity on the subscription plans. While the activation page only talks about a monthly charge, the Help Center claims there’s an annual subscription available for less than $100.

SpyFly seems to be an average background check service. The user interface gives you unified access to data from multiple sources, however the accuracy of the data provided is certainly a question. The trial option makes it a choice worth considering, however there’s a lack of clarity in the subscription plans.
